Özet
Emergency assembly areas are places where people who have to leave their homes as a result of humanitarian crises, natural disasters, or other emergencies temporarily gather safely. Emergency assembly areas are part of the disaster management plan and are managed through cooperation between local governments, national governments, international aid organizations, and non-governmental organizations. Such spaces play a critical role in times of crisis to ensure people stay safe and their basic needs are met. The main subject of the study is the analysis of emergency assembly areas determined during the pre-disaster planning process after the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes. The field study examined 55 post-disaster emergency assembly areas in Malatya city center and eight districts. The study aims to examine post-disaster emergency assembly areas within the scope of certain spatial criteria and to question their physical adequantness. As a result of the investigations, it is emphasized that emergency assembly areas are a basic need after the earthquake, beyond the concept of gathering, and that they should be evaluated within the scope of necessary precautions in pre-disaster planning.
