An investigation of temperament and charactertraits of teachers in terms of some variables

Abstract

The aim of this study is was to investigate the relationship between the temperament characteristics and demographic variables of the preschool teachers. Data were collected through the use of two instruments: Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) and Demographic Information Form. The Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) is a 240-item self-administered questionnaire constructed to assess four temperaments (Novelty Seeking, Harm Avoidance, Reward Dependence and Persistence) and three character dimensions (Self-Directedness, Cooperativeness and Self-Transcendence). Moreover, a Demographic Information Form which includes demographic data about the teachers was used. Totally 130 preschool teacher participated in this study. According to the study result, significant relationships were found between age, marital status and income level and the temperament and character sub-dimensions. © IDOSI Publications, 2014.
