Özet

Reading comprehension is an important skill in every part of life. Therefore, academic achievement of students who do not have reading and comprehension skills is low. In addition, lack of reading skills leads to failure of mother tongue education. In studies on reading comprehension, it is stated that reading comprehension affects not only Turkish lesson but also other courses. The aim of this study is to determine whether the 2018 LGS Turkish questions match the PISA reading skills goals. The study was qualitative and was based on document analysis. The results of the investigations in Turkey’s ability to read the field appears to be low compared to other countries of its performance. When LGS Turkish questions overlap with PISA reading comprehension objectives, it was found that the questions remained at PISA 2 and 3 levels in general.
