This paper aims at finding out whether the use of the ELP supports reflective learning and self-assessment in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes in the higher education system through a small-scale case study of ELP pilot implementation. The paper commences with the introduction of the ELP in a way that the European Language Portfolio (ELP) is an instrument of improving learner responsibility and autonomy throughout learner reflection and self-assessment. It continues with the study, the results of which reveal that the integration of the ELP contributes to the learners' language learning process to a great extent in terms of promoting their self-confidence, self-reflection and self- assessment in that they regard the ELP as their own holding. The paper concludes by making some significant points and recommendations for ESP teachers who are inclined to integrating the ELP into their language teaching.
