Özet

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of PQRST technique on the development of text summarizing skills of fourth grade students. Action research design was used in the study. Two study groups were formed for the study. The first study group was determined by the easily accessible sampling technique from the fourth grade students in the city center of UŞak. The second study group was determined by stratified sampling technique considering the level of summarization skills among the students in the first study group. Research data; narrative texts were collected through student products, summary text scoring key, semi-structured interview form, interview voice recording and researcher diary. The quantitative findings of the study were analyzed with the related samples t-test. In the analysis of qualitative findings, descriptive analysis technique was used. At the end of the study, it was concluded that PQRST technique contributed to the development of summarizing skills.
