Abstract

Due to the vocabulary of a language can not be able to teach to students on sudden, it should be teach gradually. Various frequency studies are done about which words will teach to students firstly. One of these studies is the determining language vocabulary that used by students in written language. Not only the findings and results of these works but also how it is got is important. In other words, carrying out sampling and conducting analysis steps of data with using data collection tool in scientific method effect the findings and results of studies directly. In this context the aim of the search is to examine in terms the methods of searches about written language of students in Turkey. The searches related to students' written language were examined in thirteen questions from there perspectives data collection tool, data analysis , universe and sample. According to this, it was determined that there are problems in studies about students' written language, in limiting the universe, in the selection of sample, in number of students and in numbers of writing text. Besides, it is understood that there are differences in counting of special names, numbers, idioms, proverbs, dilemmas in vocabulary studies. For to be valid and reliable of studies about students' written language, it must be determine common criteria, pay attention to steps of data analysis and universe and sample.
