Özet

Today, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare is rapidly spreading. AI offers significant innovations in diagnosing and treating diseases, drug development studies, hospital management, and developing healthcare policies. The successful use of AI technologies in healthcare services depends on the trust of patients and healthcare professionals, as well as their technical competence. This study aims to reveal the basic components of reliable AI, the factors that affect healthcare professionals’ and patients’ trust in AI, and the strategies that can be used to increase trust in AI. Reliable AI systems should have three technical features: “lawful, ethical, and robust”. Healthcare professionals’ trust in AI is affected by their characteristics, knowledge levels, user experiences, individual, professional, and ethical concerns. In addition, healthcare professionals should see AI as a supportive tool and work in cooperation with their expertise. Patients have concerns about AI, such as confidentiality of personal data, privacy, and unethical use. In addition, patients’ failure to understand the working principles of AI systems also causes trust problems. In patients’ trust in AI, doctors’ recommendations, and using AI systems in collaboration with healthcare professionals are effective. In this study, seven basic strategies were suggested for building trust in AI in healthcare services: “transparency and explainability,” “compliance with ethical principles,” “data privacy and security,” “user participation and co-design,” “education and awareness programs,” “development of regulations and standards,” and “continuous testing and verification.” In the study, the importance of users’ trust as well as the technical features of AI systems in the adoption and effective use of AI in the healthcare sector was emphasized. As a result, a human-centered and user-based approach should be adopted when using AI systems in healthcare services.
