Özet

There is growing evidence in recent years that pro-inflammatory mediators play a key role in the development of neuropathic pain through central and peripheral sensitization mechanisms. Brilliant Blue G (BBG) is a non-competitive antagonist of the P2X7 receptor, which is exclusively activated by high extracellular ATP concentrations, causing the intense release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of BBG following traumatic injury in a peripheral neuropathy model in rat and assess both the sensory and the affective components of neuropathic pain in the chronic process.
