Özet

Dialects of Western Rumelia have contributions to research on the history or present of Turkish. In addition to general contributions, the comparison of neighbouring sub-regions in Western Rumelia can be used in the historical reconstruction and completion of this region. Montenegro can be a complement for the Turkish dialects of its eastern neighbour Kosovo. Turkish dialects of Montenegro’s linguistic features have shown that they can be useful in understanding Western Rumelia. In this study, it is tried to be explained that the Turkish dialects in Montenegro and Kosovo, which are two neighbouring states, can complement each other with the idea that neighbouring dialects can help to understand the vocabulary of the dialects of a language. For the study’s scope, the subject was examined here in terms of vocabulary. The study was conducted on a course from Montenegro to Kosovo. Stari Bar dialect from Montenegro and Prizren dialect from Kosovo were used as examples to make the research sites more concrete. By scanning and examination, some results were obtained from two Turkish dialects. The results are classified in three groups. In the first group, it was understood that some words collected in Montenegro are not used in Kosovo. Second group, which also shows lexical transition, includes words that are partially different in Kosovo. Third group included words collected in Montenegro but with high and low frequencies in Kosovo. With such a study, the historical or contemporary period of dialects can be evaluated.
