Neşet Günal ve Sadi Diren’in eserleri incelendiğinde Türk toplum yapısını ve Anadolu coğrafyasının kültürel mirasını ortaya koyan bir durumla karşılaşılmaktadır. Her iki sanatçının farklı disiplinlerde eserleri olmalarına karşın sanatlarındaki kavramsal yönelimin ortak olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Araştırmanın önemi, farklı disiplinlerden sanatçıların benzer kavramsal çerçevede yorumlar içermesidir. Araştırmanın amacı; Neşet Günal’ın ve Sadi Diren’in eserlerinin analiz edilip, eserlerindeki kavramsal yapının neler olduğunu değerlendirerek sanatçıları folklorik unsurlara yönlendiren ifade arayışlarını irdelemektir. Araştırmanın kapsamı ve konusu, Neşet Günal’ın ve Sadi Diren’in eserlerindeki folklorik unsurlar ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Neşet Günal ve Sadi Diren folklorik unsurları eserlerine taşırken; Neşet Günal toplumsal gerçekçiliği resimleriyle ifade ederken; Sadi Diren ise Hitit ve Frig uygarlıklarının tarihsel kimliğini günümüze taşıyarak çağdaş bir yorum getirmektedir. Araştırmanın konuları şu şekilde sıralanabilir: Neşet Günal’ın ve Sadi Diren’in eserlerindeki ortak noktalar nelerdir? Neşet Günal ve Sadi Diren’i folklorik unsurlara iten sebepler nelerdir? Neşet Günal’ın eserlerinde ortaya çıkan ifade ve anlamlar nelerdir? Sadi Diren’in eserlerinde öne çıkan insan ve doğa soyutlamalarının folklorik unsurlarla nasıl bir ilişkisi vardır? Böylece sanatçıların eserlerinde öne çıkan yaklaşım biçimlerinin neler olduğuna ilişkin bilgilerin ortaya çıkacağı umulmaktadır. Sonuç olarak farklı disiplinlerden seçilen iki sanatçı örneği üzerinden çağdaş Türk sanatçılarının eserlerindeki kültürel dokunun önemi anlaşılacaktır.
An analysis of the works of Neşet Günal and Sadi Diren reveals a shared conceptual orientation that reflects the Turkish social structure and the cultural heritage of Anatolian geography , despite the artists working in different disciplines. The importance of the research is that artists from different disciplines contain interpretations within a similar conceptual framework. The aim of the research is to analyze the works of Neşet Günal and Sadi Diren, to evaluate the conceptual structure in their works and to examine the search for expression that leads the artists to folkloric elements. The scope and subject of the research is limited to the folkloric elements in the works of Neşet Günal and Sadi Diren. Both Neşet Günal and Sadi Diren incorporate folkloric elements into their work; however, Günal conveys social realism through his paintings, while Diren offers a contemporary interpretation of the historical identities of the Hittite and Phrygian civilizations. The research addresses the following key questions: What are the common points in the works of Neşet Günal and Sadi Diren? What are the reasons that push Neşet Günal and Sadi Diren to folkloric elements? What are the expressions and meanings that emerge in Neşet Günal's works? How do the abstractions of human and nature, which are prominent in Sadi Diren's works, relate to folkloric elements? In this way, it is hoped that information about the prominent approaches in the works of the artists will emerge. As a result, the importance of the cultural texture in the works of contemporary Turkish artists will be understood through the examples of two artists selected from different disciplines.
