Özet

As product variety and production diversity increased with industrialization, the aqueous waste used for wet processes can be disposed of in the environment as wastewater in a way that disrupts habitat and harms living things, despite some policies to protect the environment. In this sense, engineering products have a great role in the process of releasing wastewater to the environment through various processes in a way that will keep environmental damage to a minimum. Biological, physical, and chemical treatments are applied at this stage, and well-analyzed engineering products are used in this context. Adsorption, which can be performed in wet and dry environments, is a kind of chemical or physical process utilized for this purpose. The adsorbents used in the treatment of wastewater, in this case wet adsorption, have the ability to adsorb the dissolved components from the medium with their high surface area and high affinity. This chapter presents a current review of textile-based adsorbents, which are advantageous with their porous structures, high surface areas, and generally hydrophilic structures used in wastewater treatment. Moreover, the literature lacks studies that draw on the current framework and focus specifically on textile-based adsorbents. Finally, it is thought that textile-based adsorbents are not received the necessary academic attention, and this chapter is an enlightening work for the studies to be done in this field.
