The aim of this study is to investigate the motivation of the pre-service elementary mathematics teachers toward teaching profession. In this study having descriptive design, survey method was used. The sample of study was composed of 1350 elementary school level pre-service elementary mathematics teachers registered to 21 different universities as the last year students in Turkey. For data collection, motivation scale toward teaching profession and personal information form was used. For data analysis independent samples t-test and ANOVA test was performed by the help of SPSS. In this study, it was seen that internal motivation factors are more decisive than external factors on teaching profession prefers of pre-service elementary mathematics teachers. It was understood that both internal and external factors had not significant difference in terms of gender. Nevertheless, it was seen that internal factors are more decisive on teaching professions for pre-service elementary mathematics teachers having high perception of success.
