Özet
In this study, it was aimed to examine the attitudes of secondary school students towards the course of fairy tales and epics. The study, which utilized the survey model, included 399 secondary school students (5th-8th grade students) studying in Altınyayla district of Sivas province through convenience case sampling selection. The data in the study were collected with the “ICH-Oral Traditions and Narratives” scale. The significance of the students’answers was checked with parametric tests (independent t-test-one way ANOVA). In the study, it was seen that gender, place of residence, father and mother education levels, family types, socioeconomic status, family types, socioeconomic status were not important in the attitudes of secondary school students towards the fairy tales and epics course (p>.05), while reading habits and class levels were important. Students with medium to high reading habits and students studying in the 5th and 7th grades have higher attitudes towards the course of fairy tales and epics. To improve students’attitudes towards fairy tales and epics, fairy tales and epics can be included in curricula and textbooks starting from primary school years.
