II. Meşrutiyetin ilanından yaklaşık iki buçuk ay sonra İstanbul’da bir bavul içerisinde Nahiye Eski Müdürlerinden Bağdatlı Ahmed Hamdi Efendi’nin cesedi parçalara ayrılmış bir şekilde bulunmuştur. Vezirhanı’nda bir odada beraber kaldıkları Medineli Taha isminde bir kişi tarafından öldürülen Ahmed Hamdi Bey’e ait ceset Taha ve arkadaşı Mehmed tarafından parçalanmış ve ceset bir bavula koyularak Vezirhanı’ndan çıkartılmıştır. Yakalanmamak ve dikkat çekmemek için İhsan adlı meczup bir çocuğa taşıttırılan bavul polis müdürlerinden Fuat Bey’in dikkatini çekmiş, bavulda çalıntı eşya olduğunu düşünen Fuat Bey bavulu incelemiş, bavulun içerisinden kasıklarından altı olmayan bir ceset çıkmıştır. Önce suçlulardan Mehmed, ardından da Taha yakalanmış, bunun üzerine soruşturma derinleştirilmiş, cinayet mahallinde arama yapılmış, yürütülen tahkikat ve yargılama sonucunda suçluların idam edilmelerine karar verilmiştir. Bu makalede İstanbul’da hunharca işlenen bu cinayet dönemin gazeteleri ve Osmanlı arşivindeki belgeler kullanılarak incelenecek, olayın nedeni, gelişimi, tahkikat süreci ve cezası bağlamında masaya yatırılacak ve olay Osmanlı suç tarihi açısından değerlendirilmeye çalışılacaktır.
Approximately two and a half months after the proclamation of the Constitutional Monarchy II, the body of Ahmed Hamdi Efendi of Baghdad, a former Director of the Nahiye, was found in a suitcase in Istanbul, dismembered. The body of Mr. Ahmed Hamdi, who had been murdered by a man named Taha from Medina, with whom he had stayed in a room in Vezirhanı, was dismembered by Taha and his friend Mehmed, and the body was put in a suitcase and taken out of Vezirhanı. The suitcase, which was made to be carried by a crayz boy named İhsan in order not to be caught and not to attract attention, attracted the attention of Fuat Bey, one of the police directors. Fuat Bey, who thought that the suitcase contained stolen goods, examined the suitcase and found a corpse with nothing below the groin. Firstly Mehmed and then Taha were arrested, the investigation was deepened, the scene of the murder was searched, and as a result of the investigation and trial, it was decided that the criminals would be executed. In this article, this brutal murder committed in Istanbul will be analyzed by using the newspapers and the documents in the Ottoman archive, the cause, development, investigation process and punishment of the incident will be discussed in the context of the incident and the incident will be evaluated in terms of Ottoman crime history.
