Abstract

In this study, a meshless formulation of the Euler—Bernoulli theory with non-linear strain-displacement relationship, covering both axial and bending deformations, is presented for the prediction of large deformation behavior of fabrics. Fabrics are assumed to act like a sheet material with constant extensional and bending rigidity. The influences of the choice of basis functions and support sizes for both axial and bending deformations are outlined and it is verified by comparing deformations results with those published in the literature. © 2011, SAGE Publications.
