Özet

In this study, carbon quantum dots (CS-CQDs) were synthesized via a green hydrothermal method using Capparis spinosa L. extract as a natural carbon precursor. The biological activities of CS-CQDs were evaluated through antioxidants, enzyme inhibition, and cytotoxicity assays. CS-CQDs exhibited notable DPPH radical scavenging activity with an IC₅₀ value of 1.12 mg/mL. Enzyme inhibition studies revealed strong acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity (IC₅₀ = 1.45 mg/mL) and moderate tyrosinase inhibition (IC₅₀ = 19.03 mg/mL). Cytotoxic effects were investigated against MiaPaCa-2, A549, HT-29, and HEK-293 cell lines. CS-CQDs reduced cell viability in a concentration-dependent manner, with IC₅₀ values ranging from 3.311 to 7.531 mg/mL. Although significant differences were observed among cell lines, the cytotoxic effects occurred mainly at relatively high concentrations, indicating limited anticancer selectivity. Overall, the synthesized CS-CQDs exhibited moderate cytotoxic activity, as well as good antioxidant and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitory properties. These findings highlight the potential of green-synthesized C. spinosa-derived CQDs as sustainable nanomaterials for future biomedical and biotechnological applications.
